Almost everyone knows that cutting fat will help you lose weight. Diet food is a phrase most of use don’t want to hear. The diet industry has several studies that can help you avoid that fate. You can make food with less fat and calories by using some simple food substitions. You can possibly save your life by learning these easy cooking tips, practices, and ideas.

Unsweetened Applesauce – The Wonder Substitute

Just a few simple cooking substitutions can reduce fat in your baked goods. A great way to make food that your family loves without sacrificing the recipe quality is to learn some low-fat basic cooking techniques. One great, and simple to remember, substitute is unsweetened applesauce. 1/4 cup of applesauce can be substituted for 1/4 cup of oil, it is a simple one to one conversion.

I am sure your family, like mine, loves banana bread. The recipe I use called for a lot of oil, 1/2 cup to be exact. I always worried about adding all of that fat to the recipe and how all that oil would affect the health of my family. I love banana bread, but I had to quit making it because of this. I was much more worried about my families health than the complaints that my family had before they tried the food. Since I discovered the super secret applesauce cooking substitution, I simply substituted 1/2 cup of unsweetened applesauce for the oil. My family was amazed! The banana bread was moist and flavorful. Better yet no one could taste any real difference. I feel much better knowing that they are not eating an unhealthy snack.

Begin Slowly, One Recipe At A Time

Another one of the great cooking substitutions that I did not know about is substituting 1/2 cup of evaporated fat free milk can be substituted for 1/2 cup of heavy cream. Many calories are saved, and this is really a healthy substitute for most recipes, saving everybody from eating the unhealthy fat calories and still allowing you to make food people like.

Low-Fat Substitutions Could Save Your Life

If you take the time to learn about these healthy cooking substitutions you will notice a big change in the amount of fat you and your family consume daily, monthly, and yearly. The obesity rate in the United States rises yearly and research has found that many Americans gain about ten pounds per year. You can reduce this risk of weight gain to both yourself and your family by retraining and rethinking the way you cook. If you take the time to learn some of these low-fat substitutions you can improve your health and that could make a big difference in your life.
